There has never been a beer garden having a length of 2,000 metres !

The popular Berlin-beer-mile is celebrating an anniversary this year. From 5th to 7th August the 15th International Berlin Beer Festival will take place at its traditional place in the very centre of Berlin.
Its organizer, PRAESENTA Ltd., and its ideational representative The Association of Private Breweries e.V. assume that ca. 800,000 visitors and tourists from all over the world will come to the festival during its 3 days of duration. About 300 breweries from 86 countries are expected to come to the festival offering 2,000 beer specialities along the beer mile between Strausberger Platz and Frankfurter Tor.

On 18 stages national and international artists will provide entertainment presenting attractive live music, shows and performances. And all this is at free admittance !

Attempt on a world-record on the occasion of the anniversary :

The longest beer garden of the world

There will be an attempt on the record for the entry of the longest beer garden of the world. Beer table after beer table will be put together to form a length of more than 2,000 metres. All citizens of Berlin and their guests from all over the world are invited to take part in this unique action, to clink glasses and drink a glass of beer in a good and relaxed atmosphere. This attempt on the record will take place in Karl-Marx-Allee between Strausberger Platz and Frankfurter Tor on Sunday 7th August 2011 between 11 and 13 hours. Each participant will get a number for the festival beer table, a limited festival mug filled with 0.2 litres of beer or non-alcoholic beer, and a small gift from the brewery which is representing the respective table. Of course, this unique beer garden can also be used by the friends of the beer mile after the official attempt on the record.

Participation is , of course, free of charge.
